Michael entered the financial services industry as a senior in high school at a local bank, working weekends and vacations to put himself through college. He graduated summa cum laude from Bentley University with majors in finance and liberal studies and a minor in economics. He completed credits towards his minor at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Upon graduation, Michael joined Harvard Management Company, the internal investment manager of Harvard’s multi-billion dollar endowment. In 2011, Michael founded Pine Knot Capital Management, an equity-focused hedge fund with a value investing style, at which he amassed an impressive investment performance track record.
Michael joined Heritage in 2014 as a portfolio manager and a member of the Investment Committee. He makes critical decisions on asset allocation and manager selection. He enjoys being part of an organization whose services make an impact on the quality of life of many families and where his contributions towards that end are visible and material.
An avid reader, in 2011 Michael began a regimen to sequentially read a biography on each U.S. president; he’s covered presidential history during three centuries – over 12,500 pages – and plans to keep going until he reaches our modern leaders. He’s read all of Shakespeare’s major comedies and tragedies. When his head isn’t buried in a book, Michael is an active freemason in Westwood, Massachusetts. Michael and his wife, Vasilina, enjoy difficult hikes and traveling off the beaten path.
