Karen was born and raised in Medford, Massachusetts, where she lived with her parents and five siblings. Their house was full of energy, frequently visited by extended family for Sunday dinner. While attending high school, Karen started working as a bookkeeper for a jewelry store. Upon graduation, she worked at a local bank as a teller for five years. It was there that Karen met her husband, Steve.
Karen and Steve have been married for over 40 years and have two grown children. While the children were young, Karen worked part-time to take care of them. Once they were well-settled in middle school, Karen went back to working full-time in the administration department at an insurance firm and later at an infertility clinic.
In 2000, Karen joined Heritage as a receptionist. Soon, she was wearing multiple hats, shouldering responsibilities of client services and administration. In 2003, Karen and Steve moved to Vermont to open a bed and breakfast, and ran it successfully for three years. When Heritage opened a satellite office in Stoneham, Massachusetts, the firm reached out to Karen to join that office. In this role, Karen does a variety of tasks – from welcoming clients to the office, to being an administrative assistant to Jim Scally, to coordinating money movement and other important client requests.
Karen and Steve enjoy exploring New England on their motorcycle, leisurely driving on country roads and stopping at local antique shops and restaurants on their way. Karen loves tending to tomatoes and zucchinis in her vegetable garden, but not as much as she loves taking care of her three grandchildren.
